Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who's behind this web site? I'm intrigued by the potential of using good manners to advance civil discourse on controversial topics like tax policy but I don't want to be tricked into supporting the hidden agenda of the enemy (blue team/red team).
A: TTT emerged from a dinner conversation among a conservative, a liberal, a pragmatic, and a libertarian trying to figure out if we could get beyond the rancor and actually hear each other. Thanking the Taxpayer was the most interesting common ground we could find. Outside of this, we can't stand each other's politics.
Q: Fine. So how come the backers aren't clearly identified?
A: We all have day jobs that keep us pretty busy, we are not public figures, and we have no aspirations to become public figures. In fact, we are actively seeking pairs of public intellectuals from opposing tribes to become both advisors as well as the public faces of TTT. (Think of pairings like Robert Reich/George Will.) Once we land a few, we'd be happy to turn over the keys to the web site figuring they can keep an eye on each other.
Q: How come this web site is so cheesy?
A: Hey, it's the best we could do in our spare time using a do-it-yourself GoDaddy account. If you think you could do better, how about volunteering?
Q: Are you really going to buy ads on NPR to Thank The Taxpayers?
A: You bet. We've got $5,000 pulled together around the table to get started. As soon as we raise enough money to buy an initial underwriting package, we're off to the races. Please contact us if you'd like to become a TTT organization sponsor or individual booster. Act soon, those cool T-shirts are waiting!
